Accessibility Statement
Accessibility is fundamental to our mission — boccia is for everyone
Boccia Connect is committed to making our platform accessible to everyone. Boccia is a Paralympic sport and many of our users are people with physical disabilities — accessibility is not an afterthought, it is fundamental to our mission.
Built-in Accessibility Features
The following features are available on every page of the platform:
Large Text Mode
Increases font sizes across the platform for improved readability. Activate it by clicking the A+ button in the navigation bar and toggling "Large Text." Your preference is saved in your browser and persists between visits.
High Contrast Mode
Provides enhanced color contrast with stronger text, darker borders, and more distinct visual elements. Activate it via the same A+ button and toggle "High Contrast." This preference is also saved between visits.
A skip link is the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass the navigation and jump directly to the main content area.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements — links, buttons, forms, dropdown menus, and the accessibility panel — are fully operable using a keyboard. Focus indicators are visible on all focusable elements.
Technical Accessibility
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark elements (
<header>,<main>,<nav>,<footer>), and meaningful structure throughout. - ARIA attributes: Navigation menus use
aria-expanded,aria-haspopup, andaria-label. Decorative elements are marked witharia-hidden="true". - Form labels: All form inputs have associated labels and help text where appropriate.
- Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text.
- Color independence: Information is not conveyed through color alone — status indicators use text labels in addition to color.
Standards
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This is an ongoing effort and we continuously identify and address accessibility barriers.
Known Considerations
- Real-time chat: The club chat feature uses live messaging which may present challenges for screen reader users. We are working to improve the accessibility of this feature.
- Third-party content: Some payment flows are handled by Stripe, whose accessibility is governed by their own standards.
Try It Now
You can activate accessibility features right now using the A+ button in the top navigation bar. Try toggling Large Text and High Contrast modes to find what works best for you.
Feedback
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Boccia Connect. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or have suggestions for improvement, please reach out through your club manager or platform administrator.
